Scholarship Application Process


Cleveland Touchdown Club Charities is pleased to begin accepting applications for this year's CTCC Memorial Scholarships. This year we will be granting four scholarships in honor of four gentlemen who have a rich history in Northeast Ohio football: Morrie Kono, John Peyton, Billy Reynolds and Dick Zunt. In addition to our four yearly scholarships, we will have a special scholarship available in 2025 honoring Gene Hickerson.

Eligible applicants must be a graduating high school senior and show need and merit to be considered for a scholarship. In addition, the applicant must have participated in his or her high school athletic team programs in a non-athletic manner (i.e. team manager, statistician, cheerleader, sports writer, team booster, etc.).

Five $1,000 scholarships will be awarded to selected applicants. Those selected may choose the accredited college or university of his or her choice, with the Charities' approval. The scholarships will be awarded for the 2025-26 academic year, with classes beginning beginning August-September 2025.

All applicants who wish to make an application for the scholarship must meet the following criteria:

  1. Must be a senior attending high school in the Northeast Ohio area, expecting to graduate in Spring 2025.
  2. Must show need, merit and a strong ambition to succeed in college.
  3. Must correctly complete the enclosed form that allows the applicant to be considered for a scholarship. Directions for the completion of the application are:
    • Type or print clearly.
    • Enclose two (2) letters of recommendation, excluding relatives.
    • Enclose high school transcripts.
    • Be sure to sign and date the application, and include the short essay.
  4. The recipients of the scholarship awards will be asked to accept their scholarship at the Annual Cleveland Touchdown Club Charities Gene Hickerson Memorial Golf Outing, Friday, July 11, 2025, at Bunker Hill Golf Course in Medina, Ohio.
  5. Return the above information to: CTCC Memorial Scholarships, P.O. Box 81103, Cleveland, OH 44181
  6. All required materials must be postmarked no later than Friday, April 25, 2025.
  7. Cleveland Touchdown Club Charities cannot consider any incomplete applications.
